I am pleased to announce that all 4 marathon and half marathon runners bravely completed the course, some in considerable pain. I would like to take this opportunity to share some of the moving stories.

Most of the donations from Team SMHC are now in from the 21 st. Logicom Marathon and together with the second largest team ever at any Cyprus Logicom Marathon, we raised an unbelievable Eu 22,000. This donation went to a Nurse Initiative and to contribute to the running costs of the Archangel Hospice.

Over 60 volunteers competed from our SMHC Charity Shops

16 Year old Jack Price, who is still at school ran the half marathon  for his Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award and raised over Eu 2,000 for St.Michaels Hospice Charity, an amazing effort and Robert Barnett  flew over from the UK to complete the FULL marathon and raised a fantastic Eu 1,400.

Two other iron men , Alex Hamilton and Simon Fields also bravely completed the FULL marathon for team SMHC.

A dear friend, Robert Barnett flew over from the UK especially for the marathon.

A little girl from Florida Pools ran the 5 k with her Mum.

One of our volunteers completed the course with a walking frame!

Two friends flew over from the UK and completed the 5 k – one just a few weeks after a hip replacement.

Jimmy from MY Markos Hair Salon was the first home in the 5 k from Team SMHC in a great time of 24 minutes!

Decorator Dave a 10 k runner got a cramp during the route, but motivated by the cause, he did not stop.

One of our Trustees completed the 5 k having fallen off a ladder only days before.

Our St Michael’s Hospice Charity shop teams raised the largest amount.

The inspirational TLC school in Agios Giorgios put in the largest team of 94 and raised a huge amount!

All of our competitors in Team SMHC , the second largest team in the 21 year history of the Logicom Cyprus Marathon have a great story to tell and all of them raised amazing amounts of money totaling a record breaking Eu 22,000.

Best of all everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and superb organisation by the Race organisers.

“All 306 people who joined the Team enjoyed the day and all worked so hard to raise money for this great charity, together with our amazing sponsors all of whom had their logo on our running shirts – it was an emotional and humbling experience to be part of such a successful team for the second year running. Last year the St.Michael’s Hospice Charity increased total donations to the Archangel Hospice by Eu 34k to a staggering Eu 130k and have already donated Eu 50k in the first 5 months of this year, with all the money raised from the 2018 Marathon being paid to the Hospice under the SPAN initiative. The 5 SMHC charity shops have all had a good year last year and thanks to our 80 volunteers we were able to put in such a good performance. The Archangel Michael Hospice offers palliative and respite care free of charge in its 9 seaview suites completely free of charge thanks to the generous donations from events, shops and requests run by both the Hospice and the Charity. Thank you to all concerned.”

Words are really not enough to thank you all so very much.
See you in 2020!!??
