Since our last update we now have the amazing shadehttp://stmichaels- hospice-charity.com/donate/s, fitted and in operation at the Hospice. We are delighted that our UK fundraising arm, under the direction of John Kearns, has been so successful in raising the monies as per the last update! John’s latest initiative is raising funds for ‘Sponsor a Nurse Campaign’ Please contact John if you have friends in the UK who would like to contribute, via the UK initiative.
The heat is on and not as many events during the summer take place, but we have had two raffles at Mamma’s Bar, Chloraka, and also at Railway Inn Chloraka, both events were sparsely attended due to Euro 2016 but Simone Swift sang at the Railway, and both Simone and Dave Asher (Rock FM) were there to encourage purchase of tickets – thanks to Tina Payne for arranging prizes, Nikki Dake and Mike Lavey for the Railway Inn Raffle.
Nikki continues to raise the profile of the charity, and please see articles in Cyprus Mail, Paphos Post, and other local papers and magazines!
The Band Concert at the Harbour supported two charities this year Cancer Patients Support Group and St Michael’s Hospice Charity, we will be receiving monies from this event, where the RAF band plays on the Harbour on June 14th. Our Chairman Ian Wilson, had a VIP seat courtesy of the organisers.
The shops continue and we are always happy to receive donations of goods, furniture, bric-a-brac and various items that you no longer wish to have.
We also would like to thank our raffle ticket sponsor Daryl Fitzgerald who prints our raffle tickets at no cost to the charity!
A New Team For 2016
We are pleased to report that the after the AGM on 23 March, 2016 a cheque for €7500 from the Charity was presented to Mona Skordi, Hospice Manager. This is the third cheque to the Hospice this year bringing the amount given to Archangel Michael Hospice from the Charity to €22500 so far in 2016! This shows the dedication and hard work that the charity is achieving through fund raising from the shops, events and donations. A big Thank you to all, who support us! The Masquerade Event at Colesseum went well and Gina and Fiona’s event raised €1000! We had a fantastic take up, the food was enjoyed as was the White Mouse Duo’s music. Needless to say there were many raffle prize winners and two ladies won the best mask competition being Lynn one of our nurses from the Hospice and Eve a guest of one of our members both won a meal for two at the Colesseum
We need more volunteers to help with the following:
Funerals collecting donations – these are at short notice and require a receipt book to be taken to the funeral and a minmum of two persons to be in attendance, this is a very responsible job and we would like to here from anyone who would like to help?
Events – anyone wishing to run an event, or help with scheduled events your help is always needed?
Shops – anyone wishing to volunteer for the shops – shops are located in Pano Paphos close to Carrefour, Kato Paphos close to Cosmic Bowling, Polemi Village, Geroskipou close to 7 St George and Opposite Georgia’s Restaurant, Peiya near to the police station.
Hospice – volunteers are always needed for both assisting nursing staff and the cafeteria.
